Tayler Jakeway

Artist Biography

Tayler Jakeway was born in Central Washington in 1992, and grew up in the local mountains on a private farm. With a powerful desire to learn and cultivate her art further. Being primarily self-taught the artist immediately started her arts education at Cornish College of the Arts after graduating from her small-town high school in 2011.

She later moved and transferred to Whitworth University in 2013 and finished her Bachelor’s Degree of Arts in 2015. After studying both Fine art and Studio art practices she graduated with honors and was sent out in today’s Contemporary Art World to find her place. She has been navigating that world from her private art studio and home.

Through the many experiences she’s gained, Tayler found herself drawn to Surreal Art themes in which to create the majority of her conceptual work. Focusing on several Surreal themes such as symbols, levitation, and dislocation, Tayler hopes to create conversations and connections around her personal work.

Her goal is to use the parameters of Surreal Art themes to help convey thoughts, emotions, and personal experiences to better connect to others and put those experiences into physical form. More simply the artist say’s this about her work, “My art depicts experience and parts of my life that I’ve made beautiful to connect it to others.” She continues to pursue a career in the arts, having shown in many Galleries throughout Washington State and Idaho. She wishes for her work to have an impact on others and to create work that will tell her story long after she is gone.
