This oil painting was inspired by the artists exploration into the surreal, perceptions of reality, and a love of video games. In art and especially in surreal art you are often experiencing a sur-reality or in a way an alternate reality. You are glimpsing something that exists yet is not immediately tangible except for in visual or written languages.  Similarly in video games you are investing your time or your reality into a reality that has no direct impact on your physical reality other then costing you time and emotions. Fascinated by both of these concepts the artist started to explore the concept of reality or our perception of reality by overlaying some video game aspects onto a seemingly normal scene that could be a dream, could be reality, or maybe simply a game. The artist often tries to paint their thoughts and emotions to better understand them. Utilizing surreal art methods and dream psychology while trying to portray her subjects in different yet approachable and aesthetic ways.
